Serving with faith, compassion, and dedication
The Little Sisters of St. Francis began their mission in Tanzania with the establishment of St. Clare Convent in Chanjale Seminary-Mwanga District, part of the Kilimanjaro Region in the Diocese of Same.
The General Chapter decided to elevate Tanzania to a separate Region due to geographical distance from the East of the Rift Valley Region, which encompassed various Dioceses in Kenya and Tanzania.
The North-Eastern Region Tanzania was officially inaugurated, initially comprising Arusha Archdiocese and Same Diocese in the Kilimanjaro Region, with Sr. Regina Namagheri as the first Regional Superior.
The North-Eastern Region Tanzania extended its services to include Shinyanga Diocese and Morogoro Diocese, expanding our reach and impact across Tanzania.
Today, we are served by 67 Sisters across 12 Communities, engaged in various apostolates including education, medical services, communication, secretarial work, school matrons, social work, and development management.
To bring newness and fullness of Christ's life in the world today
To reach out with compassion to the marginalized in the spirit of St. Francis and Mother Kevin
Holistic transformation of self and the world towards the reign of God.
