About Us Our Ministries

Who We Are

The Little Sisters of St. Francis (LSOSF) is an indigenous congregation founded on May 1, 1923, by an Irish missionary Mother Mary Kevin Kearney, in the Spirit of St. Francis of Assisi. It is a religious institute with the Diocesan right, was founded in Uganda with the Mother House in the Diocese of Lugazi and the Generalate in Jinja Diocese.

Aims of which the institute was founded

For the observation of the three religious vows: Poverty, Obedience and Chastity.
By a life of prayer we implore divine aid for the apostolic work and to perform works of charity in the first place in education and upbringing of girls.
The care of the vulnerable of our society basing on the signs of time.

The Little Sisters of St. Francis (LSOSF) are spread throughout Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania in order to reach out to the poor and the needy, whom we are called to love and serve.
